It's that time of year again. Have you had some king cake already? I'm just hoping for good weather.

The original location of Dat Dog at 5031 Feret Street
Today's post could have easily been yesterday's Throwback Thursday.
Sometime in late 2011 i was out shooting a roll of film to scout locations for an upcoming shoot I had with a model. I must have really liked the colors on the building.
It didn't take long for Dat Dog to grow outgrow the original location. Now they've set up across the street with much better seating. Two more locations in New Orleans and one at Lakeside Mall in Metairie later the guys behind this operation are serving more hot dogs than anyone else in the city.
I remember one notable local "food expert" here saying that a hot dog restaurant would never last in New Orleans. Yeah.
Some things are just good ideas.
The original location is now home to Liberty Cheesesteaks. I haven't tried them, but I've heard nothing but good things.
Y'all eat well this weekend.
Biloxi Pier #1 - 2014
It's official. Summer is over. I for one see it as a relief. We down here near the Gulf Coast go through a "reverse hibernation" for a coupe of months during the oppressive heat. As I look forward to a busy fall, I can't imagine working in heat like that.
The shot above is from a roll of film I started for a client but finished on a drive out to Biloxi. I have so many great memories of that area as a kid. I hope to be able to make many more.
I read in this weeks Gambit about all of the cool stuff to do around town this fall. One of my absolute personal favorites, the Oak Street Po-Boy Festival, is November 22nd. Follow that link and start making your calendars.

The new website and blog are finally up. It has been a LONG summer.
Please pardon our progress as my creative team and I work out the final tweaks. But you can go ahead and leave feedback on what you think of the site.
Thanks for tuning in. So much more awesomeness to come.

Back in the pre-digital SLR era, shooting at night was hard. You only had a limited number of low light films to choose from, and they all had their drawbacks. I'd never been to New York before. But I had always heard about the bright lights. I packed two rolls of Fuji 800 NPZ and rolled the dice. I was so pumped that it worked.
As I've reworked this site and this blog I've had a chance to look at a lot of old images. This seems to be the only time I shot night cityscapes. I really should do it more often.
